THE CAIRNGORMS GUIDED WALKS

Carn Lochan, Jan 2009

The Cairngorms cover a huge area of land mass and contain the highest concentration of 1000m plus mountains in Britain. More Arctic like than the west coast with rolling plateau and steep rocky crags that hide beautiful high lochans scattered amongst the deep corries. The Cairngorm Plateau can be the hardest and harshest terrain to navigate in, summer or winter. The climate too is completely different from the western highlands, being on average a drier, warmer place in summer and a snowier, windier, colder place in winter. With a high starting point for walking for many of the hills it is a attractive place to go walking and hiking in with a sense of real wilderness and big open spaces.

Loch Etchacan, June 2010

Nestling in the hart of the main Cairngorm mountains is the beautiful Loch Etchacan. The highest named Loch in the British Isles at an altitude of 900m. Snow fields linger on even into June on these high Arctic like plateaux. An excellent, if long day, circuit of Ben MacDui and Cairngorm can be made which encompasses Loch Etchacan and Loch Avon.

Fiacaill Ridge, June 2010

A nice scramble in The Northern Corries-The Fiacaill Coire Sneachda makes a spectacular and entertaining way up to the plateau and Ben Macdui.

Cairngorm Plateau, Jan 2009

Navigation on the  Cairngorm plateau can be difficult in any season but especially so in winter.
