SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA, MALLORCA, SPAIN

Serra D'Alfabia, Tramuntana. April 2011 Serra D'Alfabia, Tramuntana. April 2011

The Mediterranian island of Mallorca boasts some wonderful mountain walking and scrambling in the sun. With over 300 sunshine days per year this is the ideal place for those who like their hills with almost guaranteed fine weather! Spring and Autumn, even winter are the best times to visit, during the summer months it is far too hot to walk. We offer a weeks walking holiday with a variety of walks from high mountains to coastal walks.

Port Elm from Sa Dragonera. April 2011

The beautiful island of Sa Dragonera is just a short ferry ride away from the tiny and charming resort of Sant Elm. Less than a hours drive from Palm, the islands capital, Sant Elm is a far cry from the beach resorts further south. The whole of Sa Dragonera is a nature and conservatory area and has many species of plants and flowers found nowhere else. Two other unique species are the Wall Liizard and a special breed of Falcon which can be seen on the big western cliffs. There are two fantastic walks, one low level which goes from one end of the island to the other and a hillwalk which has fabulous views out to sea and back to Mallorca.

Soller from Serra Alfabia. April 2011

The Serra Alfabia range of mountains lies in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana above the pretty town of Soller. We base half of our holiday here and have three nights in a hotel on a bed and breakfast basis, dining out in the many restaurants in the town. Soller is only one hour from Palma, reached by a vintage wee train. Surrounded by orange groves and terraces of almond and olive trees, characteristic of the whole area. The Tramuntana mountains are consisted of limestone rock giving superb scrambling oppurtunities and amazing Barrancs' (gorges).
