THE THREE PEAKS CHALLANGE 2010

Ben Nevis, the first summit. July 2009

The very popular three peaks challenge is to get to the summits of the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, most people try to do this in a 24 hour period. After guiding and marshalling on several of these events and seeing some folk in a state of complete exhaustion we have devised a special and exciting alternative.

Our three peaks challenge is to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon by their most scenic and exciting routes. These are longer routes but we take three days for the challenge, walking each of the summits every day and sleeping in a comfortable bed every evening. This is still a very big and rewarding challenge but this time you can enjoy it, see all the beautiful scenery and relax at the end of every day. Instead of walking tired, in the dark and trying to dry your gear in the back of a mini-bus!

Carn Mor Dearg, Sept 2009

On our way to Ben Nevis via the Carn Mor Dearg Arete. This is the finest walking rout up 'The Ben' The walk takes 8-10 hours and after we are down there is a nice pub at the end for a drink before we travel down to the Cumbria area and a choice of B&B or hotel. Relax in comfort, nice meal and a comfy bed.

Descending from Scafell Pike. April 07

We take a through route when we are down in The Lake District for Scafell Pike. Start point is Seathwaite where we head up to Scafell Pike at 977m. The summit of Scafell which is slightly lower makes a wonderful journey via a remote, rocky walk with a wee bit of very easy scrambling up to Fox's Tarn, one of the smallest tarns in the area and a great spot to have lunch. Then it's up the final slopes to the much quieter top of Scafell before an easy descent to Wasdale Head and yet another pub at the end of the walk! We travel down to North Wales and overnight in Snowdonia at B&B or hotel.

On Snowdon, looking back to Crib Goch.

On the summit of Snowdon, relaxing and looking back at the Crib Goch ridge. The Snowdon ridge is one of the classic ridge walks in Britain. Even rivalling some of the classic Scottish ridges. At the end of the 3 days you'll look back in satisfaction, great views, some very interesting and exciting routes and a lot less tired than walking non stop on the usual 24 hr challenge.
