Tarmachan Mountaineering is run by Gary Hodgson, a very experienced and passionate mountaineer. Having lived in many locations in The Highlands for over 17 years Gary has an intimate knowledge of the mountains in Scotland. He has over 21 years of personal experience of walking and climbing in the mountains of the UK and many places around the globe. With 12 years experience of guiding groups and individuals of varied ages, abilities and backgrounds you can be assured that we will aim to give you the best mountain experience ever. On all our days out and courses  you can expect the highest quality tuition, safety and enjoyment.

During busy periods and for larger group numbers I employ only experienced and fully qualified leaders who are personally known by me.

Gary is fully qualified to guide groups in the mountains of the UK and holds the two awards of Summer and Winter Mountain Leader as well as holding the International Mountain Leader Award for guiding walking in the mountains overseas.
