ABOUT TARMACHAN MOUNTAINEERING

Meall nan Tarmachan is one of the summits on the wonderful ridge walk which rises above the pretty village of Killin. Tarmachan is the gaelic for ptarmigan an Arctic bird which lives on the mountains  in The Highlands and only above 600m.

Gary Hodgson has been running the company since 2000 and will be running the majority of courses. He has lived in various locations in The Highlands & Islands of Scotland since 1994 and has been based in Morenish, Killin since 2002. A very enthusiastic and passonate lover of the mountains, wild places, wildlife and flora of The Highlands.

Fully qualified SMLTB Summer and Winter Mountain Leader.

Gary is a very experienced mountaineer and has been leading and instructing groups in The Scottish Highlands since 2000. He has also led trekking groups in The Alps, Spain and Morocco. 

We run our holidays, days out on the hills and mountain & skills courses to suit your free time and your aspirations. We also have no minimum group numbers so even if you are the only person on a course we will deliver*.

*Except for European and holidays away from the Killin area.
